Creating a new decision is an Athena guided process. The goal of the guided process is to ensure that at the end of the creation process, you have a well-rounded definition of a decision you are trying to make. That includes;

  • basic attributes -> decision type, priority, timeline
  • access control -> who can see it and who cannot
  • WHAT, WHY, WHAT IF, IF NOT descriptions
  • Anonymous conversations -> When you create a decision, it can be set up to keep user conversations anonymous. But once a decision is created with this flag set, you will not be able to change it later.

How to create a new decision?

Click on the LetsDecide launcher at the bottom right corner -> click on Create Decision. From there onwards, let Athena guide you through the process!

Athena assistance

Throughout the process, Athena will constantly guide you with the following;

  • Insights for each of the descriptions:

    • Strength: It's an indicator of how well you are answering a question, are you using the right words to convey your intentions fully. Athena mandates a minimum strength to be achieved before you are allowed to go to next question.
    • Personality: This indicates the personality of the description in a way people of the team making the decision can relate to what's described. In other words, if the majority on the team are of a certain personality type (from the 4 types), the description will be effective if it is also has the same personality type.For more details on personality types, please refer to this document.

  • Recommendations and Suggestions

    • Predicted Time To Decide: Athena looks into the history of decisions made within a tribe and creates a predictive model to estimate how long it will take to come up with an action plan. The more you use the system, the better predictions get.
    • Experts who can help: Over a period of time, Athena is able to identify experts and influencers in your group and then suggest them back when a new decision is being planned. No more hunting for people!
    • Similar decisions: Based on the description of the new decision, Athena is able to look for similar decisions from the past and suggest them as references, maybe even avoid another redundant decision!

  • Contextual Questions

    • Athena is able to inspect everything that user entered as part of decision creation process and identify certain key entities that may need more explanation.
    • Athena will ask additional questions based on those identified entities.
